Who doesn’t want to get lost in the beauties of forest. Everyone wants to avoid the disturbance and noisy environment of city life. This place is perfect for all of these. The place is Kalikapur located 25km from Bolpur, Purba Bardhaman, West Bengal in the midst of jungle. This place is exquisitely surrounded by forest on all sides. It has a big Zamindari house in the middle which is believed to be 250 years old. The walls of the house are exquisitely carved with English style designs. The place also consists of a large pond known as the Raja Sarovar. A few meters away from the palace is a large building and a large pond known as Nilkuthi. According to the local people we came to know that the indigo plants that where cultivated in the adjacent areas were stocked in that house.
I had visited that place during the Durga Puja, the grand festival of the Bengalis and saw that Durga Puja was also being organized there and with great pomp and show. The Durga Temple inside the palace was also beautiful and looked well maintained.
The best time to visit this place is during the Durga Puja. One can reach to this place via Pangarh with the nearest railway station being Panagarh or Bolpur and nearest Airport being Kolkata and Andal. From Kolkata the place is 105km. And from Panagarh is 17km.
Everyone can visit this place and enjoy the beauties of nature.
